There has been much debate in the Mackie forums over the performance of Vista's new audio layer. I for one, couldn't see them going backwards from the horrid XP audio layer, but some people just can't be convinced. That is until now. This is a fairly straightfoward comparison of XP Pro SP2 and Vista 32/64. It's not entirely surprising to see an almost 2x performance jump for a tweaked Vista system over a tweaked XP Pro SP2 system. I can't wait to test the theory.

That is, if Mackie can ever get off their collective backsides and sort out the dispute between themselves and Echo regarding the Vista drivers. I've had the box for nearly two months and haven't been able to do anything other than turn it on... :(
